1st Post-Op Surgery Appt. with Dr. Spencer (Bon Secours Weight Loss)

Today, on March 30th, I saw my Dr. at 1:30 pm.  I lost a total of 19 lbs. my very first week!  I'm starting to think the pain I went thru and the hard week I've had were well worth it!  For a few days, I was having buyers remorse about the surgery - not anymore :)

March 21st, 2012 was a new beginning for me

On March, 21st of 2012, I underwent laproscopic gastric bypass surgery.  I told myself it was the first day of the rest of my life.  I started the process for this back in 2009; however, I fell very ill and could not have the surgery until last week.  I can't tell you this was easy, but I know it was the right decision for me.  When people say, "she took the easy way out" it is such an insult.  There is nothing easy about weight loss period...  Truth is, I've been overweight my entire life.  Weight loss surgery is simply a tool and used correctly, the results can be amazing.  I will say that I last took my insulin on Tuesday, March 20th, 2012.  My blood sugars have returned to normal and I am now off of my high blood pressure medicine as well, so for those of you thinking about having the surgery, please keep those two things in mind!

The week of my surgery was a hard week on me... It almost didn't happen.  My husband left our home the Sunday before my surgery.  Sure we had ongoing problems, but the timing was not so great...  For a couple of days, my pity party started, I then realized, not only do I owe this change to myself, but to my children as well.  I knew I had to be strong and carry on as if everything was a-okay... Not easy may I add.

This past week has been just crazy.  I NEVER thought in a million years, that I would say, "I don't feel like eating..."  But, I've struggled to even get in my protein supplements and three meals daily.  I can do the fluids part, but trying to do all 3, wow, it is challenging.
